From Boston up the US East Coast

Boston
(The  main purpose of this trip was to experience the Indian Summer, stay tuned for fall pictures in upcoming posts, as the colors haven't changed heavely yet in the  US around the beginning of our trip ; )

Boston is always worth a visit. It was already my second time there and I loved it just like the first time. The nice people, the architecture where old meets modern and the delicious food. We started off with good food, but maybe not the healthiest, at iHop. We enjoyed some yummy pancakes for breakfast there. After some strolling around town and showing my friend around places, we bought our lunch at Star Market, next to the Prudential Center. We found some fresh Sushi there and had a picnic at the Boston Common, a park located in downtown Boston.

Obligate breakfast at iHop.

Cute squirrels can be seen all over Boston.
We walked the streets of the Beacon Hill Neighborhood, with its houses made of bricks, which adds a European charm to the city.

As the evening came and the low sun put a soft and golden light over Boston, we were on our way to Wellesley to visit the college. We enjoyed the peace and quiet that surrounded this place, before we were on our way back to our motel, to prepare for our next destination, the day after…

Boothbay Harbor
If you’re the kind of person, who prefers quiet and down-to-earth places, then you might like the picturesque fisher village that is Boothbay Harbor in the state of Maine, about a three hour drive from Boston. The drive will lead you along nice coast villages, that are all worth a stop.

Picnic on the road.
We stayed at the lovely Fisherman’s Wharf Inn. Did Yoga in the morning or went for a run.
The view from our room.
We visited Porter Preserve and explored the beautiful area by hiking around. It was so nice to get some sunshine in.

Making friends with this cute dog.

Of course we explored Boothbay as well.

White Mountain National Forest
Our next stop lead us to somewhere in the middle of nowhere, or so it seemed. We stayed at a lovely Valley Brook Cottages cabin in Thornton, right at the foot of the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. There even was a hot tub, which we used under the perfect starry sky, quiet magical and enchanting. It definitely made us feel small and humble, to look at the Milky Way and think about the infinity of the universe.
Before we left for Montreal the next day, we stopped by at Flume Gorge for a short hike and unfortunately witnessed a wildfire along the way, where already firemen were trying to keep it in control.

The hike up to Flume Gorge is very easy, it’s actually more of walk.
The path up Flume Gorge was embedded between rocks, covered with lush green moss and fern.
Stay tuned for the next post, that includes the story of a hilarious border crossing to Canada, many pictures of pretty Indian Summer sightings and many more. Hope you enjoy it. ;)
