On Friday evening I landed safe and
sound in Denver Colorado, with the song “Rocky Mountain High” in my ears. Then on Saturday evening I met up with my
travel tour group, organized by Intrepid. Our tour guide Darin gave us some
important information about the upcoming trip and then we headed out to dinner.
Sunday morning we started our trip from
Colorado, and went on the road across the wide open spaces of Wyoming.
Then finally we arrived at our
first that day, at the museum The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs, South Dakota. In 1974,
right at this place, where now stands the museum, mammoth bones were found. They set bones of already 61 mammoths free. These giants must have
been drowned there in a sinkhole myriads of thousands of years ago. The archeologists are
still digging and finding new bones. It was quite interesting to learn more
about that era, where mammoths where still alive.

A mammoth skeleton.

After our visit at the museum we
were on our way to our hotel the Bavarian Inn in Custer.

We checked in and headed out for dinner at the State Game Lodge built in 1920. We had fun, talking and getting to know each other better.
