Vancouver and Whistler

We brought back our rental car at the SeaTac airport in Seattle and took the bus to Vancouver for about a 4 hour ride. On our way to Seattle, our next Airbnb host sent us a message that her home is strictly guarded by a security service and we must not tell that we were there for Airbnb, but that we were just visiting a friend, other than that we must say that we would stay in a hotel nearby, if we would follow these rules, there would be no problem. Wow, we felt like having a déjà vu of deciding what to do. We once again were frustrated and stressed out and mad and decided to cancel the booking and stay at a hotel instead. Luckily there was Wi-Fi on the bus so we so we booked a nice hotel about 30 minutes before arriving at Vancouver. With all these experiences I must say, that I wouldn’t suggest to do Airbnb and I don’t think I would consider doing it again in the future. I travelled for 2 months and stayed at several hotels, motels and hostels and never had a complaint. Except for one hostel in Victoria, but that’s a story for another post.

After checking in, we met up with a friend of Salome from Switzerland and had dinner at a thai restaurant and then strolled through the city to Canada Place and had dessert and a drink at the Cactus Club Café.

I’ve already been here 3 years ago and I was so happy to be back again, I really love this place.
The next day we slept in, went shopping and then went to the Lighthouse Park.

Lighthouse Park.

After a beautiful day we went to bed happy and got up the next morning pretty early to head to Whistler, where the Winter Olympics 2010 took place. We saw beautiful lakes and enjoyed nature. Unfortunately Salome didn't feel too well that day, but i think she enjoyed it though.
Joffre Lake was amazing. Look at the colors.

Daysie Lake didn’t disappoint either, we hung out there a little, it was just so nice.

Sadly that was our last day of our road trip together, Salome had to go home. We had a really good time together. I’m very glad for our friendship. I’m thankful for all the deep and good conversations, the laughs and good cries we had on this trip, all the beautiful things we’ve seen and for all the fun we had. I’m so happy, that we finally could realize our dream.
