Wednesday we got up at 3 a.m. and
drove about 1.5 hours till we got to the spot, where we've been tracking wolves
for a couple of hours. Driving through Yellowstone at down was beautiful. It wasn’t
day yet not dark, so we could see the steam of the hot basins and geysers,
which made the whole landscape a little mystic. On our way we happened to see
some deer. And a black bear, unfortunately it was too far away for me to
capture it.
It was freezing and we had to be patient for the wolves to come out of their den. It was absolutely worth the wait and once the sun maid its way above this mountain, it warmed up immediately.
The spot where from where we tracked the wolves in the distance. It was quiet and peaceful.
There you see Evan, our wolf expert of the day, explaining how big a wolf can get. This man has an incredible knowledge about the wildlife in this park, not only about wolves and it was very interesting, listening to his stories and asking him about facts and information.
Looking through the scopes, that were put in the direction of the wolf den in the hills above, on the other side of the river. The wolves were too far away to take pictures.

We happened to see big herds of bisons. It is mating season, so they are coming down to the valley.
Our lunches looked pretty much like this every day.
This cutie loved to pose for me ;)
Evan took us on a hike off the path, which you are allowed to do only with a designated guide of the park. He showed us fascinating things.
A wolf den, which was in use decades ago.
Caterpillars.
The remains of animals who die in the park, will be carried away by rangers, to spots, where park visitors have no access, so they can't take any remains with them. The skull of a bison, that was hit by a car, was put away from the road, where no Eye can see it.
Later in the day, we went to see the Mammoth Hot Springs. Beautiful and fascinating.
It is a result of flowing hot water
from the spring that cooled and deposited calcium carbonate over thousands of years.

It was an incredible spectacular and fascinating day in Yellowstone and I've learned so much about wolves, bears and bisons and other wildlife and nature in general. Loved it.
