Before we arrived in Charleston, we stopped by at a pretty magical place, at
least to me it was really awesome to be there. We visited The Old Sheldon
Church Ruins in Yemassee, South Carolina. It is one of the first churches in the
USA, which was built in temple form, it was funded in the 1740s and 1750s. After
being set on fire in 1779 by British troops it was rebuilt. It is traditionally
told, that the church was burned a second time in 1865, but there’s another
story that says, it wasn’t on fire, just torn up inside. Blacks and whites used
the material to rebuild their houses after the war. However, the history and
fate that lies over that place was almost tangible, looking at the grave stones
and looking at dates of past times long ago, was special and it honestly gave me some
goosebumps. It is an amazingly beautiful and peaceful place. Here you go, I'll let the pictures tell the rest.
